The visit aimed to invite the center to join the Higher Committee for drafting the bill of the Syndicate of Complementary Medicine Professionals in Iraq, in collaboration with the Parliamentary Health Committee, to leverage scientific and academic expertise. The delegation was received by the Director General of the center, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud Farhan, along with Prof. Dr. Hazem Ismail Abdul Bari, Head of the Environmental Biotechnology Department, and Assistant Professor Abdul Salam Tawfiq

Conclusion of the Third International Scientific Conference of the Biotechnology Research Center (3rd_ISCB), Al-Nahrain University The Biotechnology Research Center concluded its conference on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, with the second and final day of discussions held in the Grand Conference Hall of Al-Nahrain University and the halls of the College of Engineering at the same university. Researchers were divided according to their specializations: the medical and molecular track addressed medical details, the botanical track focused on plant-related research and extraction, and the environmental track explored all topics related to the environment and physiology. These topics were discussed over two days in morning and evening sessions. The conference resulted in several recommendations, including supporting scientific research, enhancing the quality and level of studies, ensuring innovation and modernity while avoiding repetition, and maintaining originality and quality in scientific topics. Thanks were extended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud Farhan, Director-General of the Center, and Prof. Dr. Hazem Ismail Abdul Bari, Chair of the Scientific Committee, to His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and the President of Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdulaziz Al-Shawi, for their support of the conference, as well as to all committees and individuals who contributed to its success

Launch of the Biotechnology Research Center Conference The Biotechnology Research Center at Al-Nahrain University has officially launched the activities of its 3rd International Scientific Conference on Biotechnology (3rd ISCB-2024) on Tuesday, November 26th, at the university’s grand conference hall. The opening session of the conference was attended by the President of Al-Nahrain University, Prof. Dr. Ali Abdulaziz Al-Shaawi, the President of Anbar University, Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Neda, the General Director of the Center for Environmental, Water, and Renewable Energy Research and Technology, Dr. Amer Naji Ahmed, as well as the Vice President of Al-Nahrain University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Omar Farouk Abdul Rasheed, and the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Alaa Hussein Abdul. Additionally, the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Juma Salman Jiyad, the Dean of the College of Biotechnology, Prof. Dr. Mohsen Hashem Rassn, and a number of deans, faculty members, and researchers from the University of Baghdad and various other Iraqi universities attended. The event also featured notable conference speakers, including Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Neda, and witnessed remarkable participation. The conference’s master of ceremonies, media personality Saif Al-Hamadani, skillfully introduced the program, which commenced with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the national anthem, and a moment of silence for Iraq’s martyrs. This was followed by a documentary film about the center and a speech by the university and the conference-organizing center delivered by its General Director, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud Farhan. He emphasized the significance of scientific research for a prosperous world, reflected in the conference’s theme: “Science Today for a Bright Tomorrow.” Dr. Farhan highlighted the conference’s objectives, including the exchange of expertise and scientific contributions among researchers from Arab, international, and local universities to maximize scientific benefits and utilize knowledge for building a high-quality future. The event featured keynote speakers, including Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Talib Al-Neda, President of Anbar University, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mansour Al-Zuhairi from Zagazig University, Egypt. These lectures were moderated by Prof. Dr. Hazem Ismail Abdul Bari, Head of the Department of Environmental Biotechnology at the center. Attendees then moved to the College of Engineering to view the posters of participating researchers and exhibits from companies contributing to the conference. Subsequently, sessions were held in the college’s halls, focusing on the following themes: plant sciences, environmental and physiological sciences, and medical sciences, where participants discussed joint research. The media presence played a significant role in covering the conference events, with teams from the presidency of Al-Nahrain University, Al-Nahrain University Channel, the university’s media channel, the official Al-Iraqiya Channel, and the center’s media team, enhancing the event’s prominence. Certificates and shields were distributed to guests, participants, conference committees, and supporting organizations. The two-day conference includes morning and evening sessions to discuss all contributions. We wish the conference success and hope it adds a valuable contribution to the advancement of science and knowledge in service of our beloved country

Scientific Collaboration

          Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahmoud Farhan, Director General of the Center for Biotechnology Research, established a framework for scientific cooperation with the University of Samarra. This initiative focused on discussing the functioning of committees from both scientific and administrative angles, while also aiming to strengthen collaboration between the center and the Faculty of Applied Sciences at the University of Samarra. During the visit, the Director General welcomed Prof. Dr. Aysar Saleh Muhammad, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, and commended the center’s efforts in supporting the faculty. Both parties expressed hopes for continued progress and mutual contributions to serve their shared interests
